File Hash & Strings Inspector

Calculate file hashes, compare a checksum and inspect readable strings and indicators.

Processed in your browser. Your input is not uploaded.

Choose one local file, then inspect it explicitly. Your file is not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose one local file

Add a file up to 50 MiB, then start the inspection. Its bytes stay on this device and are not uploaded.

  2. 2

    Check hashes and readable evidence

Review exact-byte hashes, compare an expected checksum, and search bounded ASCII and UTF-16LE strings with their byte offsets.

  3. 3

    Continue with one selected lead

Copy local evidence or explicitly hand an eligible calculated hash or detected indicator to Coeus for investigation.

What the results mean

A hash match is equality, not trust.

Matching a supplied checksum shows that the bytes produce that value. It does not verify the publisher, provenance, signature or safety of the file.

Strings are evidence, not behavior.

Readable text may be unused, misleading, compressed, encrypted or obfuscated. This tool does not execute the file or make a malware verdict.

File recognition is deliberately narrow.

A recognized byte signature is a structural clue, not proof of file type. Archives and embedded files are not opened, decompressed or traversed.
